  • HD Video.

Pros

  • Extremely easy to use.
  • Integrates with Outlook and Google Calendar.
  • Safe driving mode.
  • Automatic recording.

  • Requires a software download.

Features

Rather than trying to do everything, RingCentral Meetings is specifically focused on business meetings.

The app is built to work intuitively right out of the box.

Video directs attention automatically to the current speaker, making meetings easy to follow. However, there are also flexible screen sharing options, as well as live one-on-one and group chat features. A recording of the meeting is saved automatically as soon as you’re done.

RingCentral also has a set of advanced features made specifically for meetings.

You can invite new attendees even after the meeting starts, which is great if something comes up that requires the input of someone who wasn’t originally invited. It’s also possible to eject attendees during a meeting. This means you can invite people to attend only part of a meeting,

Finally, safe driving mode makes it easy to listen in on a meeting completely hands free.

Flexibility

Unfortunately, RingCentral is not as flexible as other web conferencing solutions we reviewed.

For one, you’ll need to download a software app or Google Chrome browser extension. There’s an app for Windows, OSX, iOS and Android, but not for Windows Phone.

Participation is also limited to 50 locations, and that’s only if you opt for the most expensive pricing plan. On the standard plan, participation is limited to four locations or attendees.

To be fair, this is probably much more than you’d need for a business meeting, even if you’re a larger organization. That said, other web conferencing solutions we reviewed had unlimited attendees.

Most significantly, however, RingCentral Meetings is not a standalone product, but part of a larger RingCentral business PABX bundle. This is great if you already use RingCentral or if you’re looking to purchase a whole communications system for your business, but not so much if you’re only after a web conferencing solution.

Security And Privacy

RingCentral has excellent security features.

All data transfers are encrypted via multi-level network security and infrastructure; and attendees can only join meetings via the app if they have a dedicated joining link.

It’s also possible for organizers to further customize RingCentral’s security. In particular, you can set different permission levels for different attendees, block inbound caller IDs and even disable calls from certain locations.

RingCentral staff also continually monitor calling activity in order to ensure that nothing unusual or suspicious is going on.

Ease Of Use

RingCentral is extremely simple to use for organizers and attendees alike.

The RingCentral Meetings app is intuitive and easy to navigate. It also integrates seamlessly with other apps, including Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar, making it a breeze to schedule meetings.

Attending a meeting is as simple as clicking on a link. This automatically opens the app and connects you to the web conference. The video focuses automatically on the person who is currently speaking, and switches as soon as another speaker takes center stage.

Organizing a web conference is equally easy. You simply click on “Invite” and key in an email address. It’s also possible to send invites via text message.

Customer Support

RingCentral customer support is second to none.

You can contact customer support by submitting a support ticket. However, the website itself has a dedicated Customer Care Center where you can find all the information you need.

Upon entering, you’re greeted by a widget that lets you know whether there are any known issues with the service. There’s also a dedicated service status site.

The Customer Care Center itself is divided into categories which make finding what you’re looking for a breeze. There’s an extensive knowledge base with information on setting up, troubleshooting and dealing with common issues as well as guides and video tutorials.

In addition, there’s a learning center with video tutorials on how to get started and how to make the most of RingCentral’s web conferencing solution.

Finally, there’s an active community where you can ask questions, read announcements or even come up with ideas and suggestions on how to improve the service.

It’s also possible to get setup help, as well as dedicated live support in the form of a single point of contact you can get in touch with should you come across a problem. Unfortunately, this service comes at an additional cost.

Conclusion

RingCentral is extremely easy to use and set up, and is a great choice if you want to run virtual business meetings with minimum fuss. Unfortunately, it’s not a standalone product, which means you’ll have to purchase a whole PABX system in order to use it.
