More to the point, it’s simply unbeatable when it comes to online privacy and security.

Rhub is unique in that, rather than offering an ongoing web conferencing subscription, you’ll own your own server after a set number of payments.

There are five types of server you can choose from: web conferencing, HD video conferencing, remote support, remote access and all in one. For our review, we’ll have a look at the web conferencing and HD video conferencing servers.

The main difference between the web conferencing and HD video conferencing servers is video quality and number of simultaneous video streams. The former supports 256 by 192 image resolution and up to 15 simultaneous webcams, whilst the latter supports full HD video and up to 30 simultaneous webcams. Quite honestly, at this price point the web conferencing server’s video quality is surprisingly low.

As can be expected, both solutions come with an endless list of features.

Besides all the basic features you’d expect, the web conferencing server includes support for multiple monitors, on screen drawing tools, desktop sharing and even remote printing. In addition, the platform supports 9 languages and has extensive reporting and integration tools.

Because you own your own server, Rhub has an incredible level of flexibility.

Attendees can join a conference via a web browser, with no downloads needed. The server also supports mobile devices, including Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

However, you can also integrate Rhub into your company’s intranet or even create a dedicated in-house web conferencing app that’s completely tailored to your needs.

Of course, the fact that you get to own your own server is also Rhub’s downside. Unless you have the proper infrastructure to safely store and run a server on your premises, getting Rhub simply isn’t feasible.

Security And Privacy

Rhub is very big on security and privacy.

Since you effectively own your own server, which you keep on your own business premises and protect with your own in-house proxies and firewalls, it’s much harder for third parties to gain access to your data.

Besides, you can host meetings on your intranet, website or in-house app. This is more secure than using a third party virtual location.

Finally, you can prevent specific attendees from being able to record meetings and make the option available only to more trusted people on the conference.

Ease Of Use

Rhub’s servers are designed to work right out of the box. Just plug and play. They’re also programmed to update automatically and require minimum maintenance.

That said, if you want to make the most of its customization options, for instance by integrating it into your company’s intranet or running it via a dedicated app, you’ll need to do some advanced tweaking.

Organizing a meeting is as simple as sending an email with a link to the conference. The system is designed to work seamlessly with most email clients, which means that you can send out invites straight from your calendar.

Attending a conference is a simple question of opening a link on the browser of your choice.

Customer Support

You can download Rhub’s user manuals directly from the website.

There’s also an extensive knowledge base and FAQ section. The information is written in simple language that is easy to understand and follow. However, there’s a lot of it and, because there’s no search widget, it can get a bit hard to navigate.

Unfortunately, live customer support  is only available on weekdays from 1 am to 6.30pm pacific time.

Rhub has an endless list of features and customization options, but is surprisingly easy to set up and use. That said, if security isn’t crucial to your business model, you may be better off with a solution that doesn’t require hosting your own server in house.
