Join.Me Highlights

  • Advanced screen and window sharing capabilities.
  • Unlimited whiteboards.
  • Tiered plans.

  • Easy and intuitive to use.
  • Enterprise sign in.
  • Up to 5TB of managed cloud storage.
  • Free trial.

  • Requires an app download.
  • Some key features are only available on iOS.

Join.Me comes in three versions.

The free plan allows up to a whopping 10 participants, which is more than even some paid web conferencing plans we reviewed allow. You’ll also get support for up to 5 video feeds, screen sharing controls, and up to four whiteboards.

This is a very good deal with surprisingly few catches. In fact, the only catch is that you’ll get in-meeting ads, which is probably something you can work around.

That said, Join.Me also has two paid tiers, called Pro and Enterprise. These plans obviously dispense with in meeting ads. In addition, you’ll get a ton of extra functionality, including unlimited whiteboards and up to 250 meeting participants.

Join.Me’s main focus is online collaboration, so you’ll get a lot of features which streamline workflows and make online collaboration easier. These include annotation tools, the ability to switch presenter and, on the Enterprise plan, an incredible 5TB of managed cloud storage.

Unfortunately, some key features, such as whiteboards, are only available for iOS, which means you can’t use them unless you have access to an iPhone or iPad.

In order to organize and host a meeting, you’ll need to download a dedicated desktop or mobile app from the Join.Me website. At the moment, Join.Me supports Windows, OSX, iOS and Android.

If you’re a participant, however, you can join a meeting through your browser. Join.Me supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. While these are the most commonly used browsers around, some other web conferencing solutions we reviewed don’t have these limitations.

In addition, if you’re on a Mac, Join.Me works best on Safari, which means you might run into issues if you use either Firefox or Chrome.

More significantly, certain key features such as whiteboards only work on iOS, which means you’ll need access to an iPad or iPhone to use them.

Security And Privacy

Join.Me boasts excellent security features.

The platform uses 256-bit SSL encryption as standard, and you can require attendees to authenticate themselves using a randomly generated code in order to join meetings.

In addition, you can eject people from a meeting or even lock the meeting down. Meeting lock will require users to request permission in order to join, which adds a further layer of security to your conference.

Ease Of Use

While you do need to download an app in order to organize and host meetings, this is quite quick and easy to do. You can download and install the app in minutes, and it works right out of the box.

Joining is equally simple. Just follow the link, authenticate yourself and you’re in.

The interface is sleek, minimal and intuitive to use. All the main controls have their dedicated button, whilst advanced functions are readily accessible via a drop down menu.

Customer Support

Both free and paying Join.Me customers have access to email support tickets and to Join.Me’s knowledge base and support center.

The knowledge base is extremely easy to navigate. The information is written in simple English and includes videos.

Paying customers also have access to phone support. Unfortunately, this is not available 24/7, but only from 7.30pm on Sunday until 9pm on Friday EST.

If your job description requires constant collaboration, Join.Me is hard to beat. It’s sleek, easy to use and laser focused on making online teamwork a breeze. Unfortunately, some key features are only supported on iOS, which may be a bit of a problem if you don’t have access to an iDevice or simply aren’t an Apple fan.
